Verizon is well known for moving as fast as a snail on a turtles back when it comes to issuing the latest version of Google’s Android operating system found on numerous smart phones.

Recently I stumbled across a source offering a release of the latest version of Android Froyo. Froyo is the code name assigned to the project. My patience is very thin with Verizon these days. So I decided to take it upon myself to install Froyo.

After the installation I immediately installed Adobe’s Flash Player 10.1 located in the Android Market. This is the first release of Flash on the Android platform. Flash is the engine behind multimedia found on numerous websites.

Android v2.2 offers improvements, stability, optimization, and subtle new features. The thing you immediately notice is speed. Wow it is significantly faster. The virtual desktop is now five panes versus three offering better navigation.

Perhaps my favorite is Tethering. This is a new feature that provides you access to the Internet. You connect your computer to your Android phone and bam you have access to the Internet.

Sorry Verizon, you are just too darned slow.

Catching up today I stumbled upon a program that fits within a niche. The program attempts to comfort you as you blissfully type your article or blog. It is worth a try considering it doesn’t cost anything. There is an advanced version for those that are kind enough to donate.

CreaWriter features a clutter-free desktop, background desktop image and a background ambient sound. The audio is subtle and I figure you are supposed to be more productive.

Unfortunately, the program cannot shut-up cats, dogs, nor your better half while trying to write. You still need a quiet area if you need to concentrate.

By now you have probably heard that Windows 7 is now released as of today. This entry is not to repeat what has already been announced. Rather it is to provide you a couple of brief pointers on how to proceed on up to Microsoft Windows 7.First, if you have Windows XP DON’T upgrade. By the time you complete the upgrade you will be bald from the stress and it will actually be more difficult. Your computer will be botched enough that you’d probably find the end result unacceptable. You might as well get your disks for both Windows Seven and the other disks for every program. The only sensible way to perform this task is plain reinstall everything.

If your computer is over three years old and has 1 GB of RAM or lower then you are best to keep it at either XP or Vista. The system upgrade is not worth it as Vista can barely run smoothly on 1 GB. Are you beginning to see the point? If not, continue to read.

If your computer is less than two years old and minimally has 2 GB of RAM you are ready. Just make sure you have minimally 2 GBs of RAM for Windows 7. RAM is so cheap there is no excuse not to upgrade. You can purchase 1 GB of RAM for approximately $40 these days.

The last factor you should use to measure the practicality of moving onto Windows 7 is the bottom line. How much will it ultimately cost? You should spend no more that $400.00 on the total upgrade between the hardware and/or software. This pricepoint already can purchase a brand new Windows seven based computer that can run circles around any two year old computer.

If your computer works, then why repair it. In fact, don’t bother upgrading to Microsoft Windows version 7 if you have XP. This is both prudent and smart investing. We have been asked a number of questions regarding Windows seven over the past few months while serving our St. Louis customers during network and computer repair service calls. We anticipated releasing this post the day version seven was released. Posting it earlier would have fallen on deaf ears as the cliche’ goes.

You can manually start the download by clicking here or automatically.

You can configure your computer to automatically update your PC. You can click here for the procedures. Doing this will help keep your PC secure and reliable. Although this update is not 100% proactive it is definately the best option available short of anti-malware and virus protection software.

Make sure you prevent a potential computer repair by applying the security updates accordingly. If you require assistance please call us at 314-563-0002 if you are in the St Louis or Saint Charles, MO area.
