Internet Holding Up To Stress With Death Notices

by Net-Net Editor on June 28, 2009

Ciber CafeThis week is one to remember with the recent passing of celebrities and the demand for information regarding the death of Michael Jackson and Billy Mays.

The fixation of fans pouring out their hunger for information is similar to 9/11 purely from the technical level only.  The Internet is capable of speeds that show strength and weaknesses.  It will take a couple of weeks for the major players in the industry to assess the experience of the past week.

The negativity of the news will produce some positive light in a technical respect.  Companies will analyse the usage of bandwidth and infrastructure.  This will certainly be a time to improve the footing of both the electrical grid supporting data centers, cabled media, redundancy of equipment, and great analysis of the bottleneck.

There will be a short upswing in technology purchases from the major players.  No company that provides mass content to the public is going to sit on this opportunity.  The short downside of the recent passings will provide long-term improvements enhancing the quality of content as the convergence of entertainment, information, and social networking matures.
