The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has created a online statewide virtual public school. Missouri is one of 24 other states offering this type of service. The first school year is the 2007-2008 session.
VIP, Virtual Instruction Program, allows all schools in Missouri to offer students equal access to a wider range of coursework, more flexibility in scheduling, and learning online which is neither time nor place dependent.
If public, private, or home school students enroll in MoVIP courses as a part of their regular daily class schedules, they are eligible for funded seats during fall and spring semesters. There is no cost to the students, but there is limited availability during the early development phases of this new program.
All of Missouri’s public, private and home school students are entitled to apply for enrollment in MO-VIP.
You may contact VIP for any information. Signing up begins Monday, May 7th, 2007. Better hurry if you are interested.
