q22008crimwareurls Report Details the Increase of Phishing Crimes in DetailMembers of the Anti-Phishing Working Group have compiled the latest statistics and collectively created a 10 page PDF report.  The results contain the various types of phishing that exponentially increased in this same time last year.

Part of the increase is attributed to the economic downturn according to the report.  Social sites, Web 2.0, are in part the source for most infections.  The social Internet uses phishing techniques primarily through e-mail.

Trojans and keyloggers are typically the vehicle used to stealing data and private information.  We continue to remind customers, be it from your ISP, MySpace, FaceBook, etc, not to open attachments or emails from senders you do not know or recognize.

You risk exposing your data such as ID, passwords, and other confidential information.  Phishing infections specialize in recording your data and then later uses it to acquire sensitive information.

Install proper security software, anti-virus and anti-spyware, on your computer and network servers to prevent costly repairs.  Reacting to a problem is much more expensive than proactively prevening a problem.
