With the spirit of an entrepreneur, ingenuity and demand, a small WiFi network is born. The service was created, offered cheaper and completely bypassed St. Louis City.
Tip O’Neill used the phrase “All politics is local.” Of course, that is not the typical attitude today as money is thrown all over the place from the so called great recovery act of 2009. A WiFi network was created by Ben West who has a background in computer engineering.
Local businesses banded together, via a homemade wireless antenna, ATT DSL, and a grant (from a political motivated liberal organization) created their own WiFi network serving an entire block for only $10 a month. Neighbors now surf the Internet with their computer and repair the broken promise once given by St. Louis City and ATT. The group has aspirations to expand the network by a couple of more blocks.
Congratulations on doing something without the government. That is surprising considering a portion of funding came from liberals.
